UN ACTION #2 AGAINST IRAQ WAR

The US resolution on Iraq has now been sent to the Security Council.  The US, Great Britain, France, Russia and China hold veto power.

The US is pressing for a vote this week.  It is reported that Russia and China will likely follow France's lead.  Mexico appears to be the deciding vote (nine are required) among the non-veto-bearing members of the current Security Council.  The NY Times has reported that Mexico will likely vote "NO".

Although we have asked you to call and write members of the Security Council over these last weeks, it is important for us to keep up the pressure.
