School of the America's Watch Rally
Action > Photo Essay

Fort Benning, GA November 18-20th, 2005

Every November thousands of people, young and old, gather at the gates of Fort Benning to close the School of the America's housed on Fort Benning property.

Pictured to the left are four doves that represented the four church women, Ita Ford, Jean Donovan, Maura Clarke, Dorothy Kazel.  These doves were apart of the puppetista performances over the weekend.

This year crowd estimates were as high as 19,000 people.  The crowd was diverse with a strong student presence.

Pictured to the left is the delegation of the Sisters of Christian and Charity in front of the gates leading onto the base of Fort Benning where the School of the America's (WHINSEC) is stationed,

The 8th Day Center for Justice had several staff and members in attendance at the SOAW Protest and Vigil this year.  Staff included Stephanie Dernek, SVD staff and Sr. Mary Kay Flanigan, OSF who are pictured in front of the memorial fence.

The reason for gathering at the gates of the School of the America's is to close it down, remember those who have been murdered at the hands of those trained at the SOA.  We will continue to come until it is closed.  Mark your calendars for November 2006.  For more information on the School of the America's Watch movement please visit www.soaw.org
