                                                         2009 Photos here!
gfThe 29th Annual Good Friday Walk for Justice stems from the Christian tradition of the Stations of the Cross -- Jesus' walk to his execution.  The social issues of our time are incorporated with the Stations of the Cross.

Our 2009 theme is Who Will Carry the Word? To Remember - To Speak - To Act -  To Imagine.  This theme speaks of the 8th Day Center's belief that each of us must bear the responsibility not to forget those who suffer at the hands of dominating and abusive power.

Gather at the corner of Congress and Michigan on
Good Friday April 10, 2009 at noon.
» Your co-sponsorship with the presenters keeps this project on our annual calendar.  Sponsorship form available. Sponsor online here:

Urban Plunge

up8th Day Center organizes an annual urban plunge. The Urban Plunge tries to show some systemic problems that plague urban communities as well as presenting creative solutions and progressive social movements. Although it is designed primarily for people in formation in religious congregations it is open to other interested participants.

Throughout the week the participants embarked on an immersion experience visiting organizations that dealt with issues such as affordable and public  housing, the prison system, health care, police brutality, predatory lending, racial profiling, and homelessness. They also spent time with communities and churches that respond to these issues.  Below are some photos from past Urban Plunges. The recent invitation, registration form and a sample of previous schedule. Send registrations by 2/28/09 please or call office for more information.
