Join 8th Day Center Staff and Witness for Peace's International Team

August 7-17, 2010

        8th Day Center for Justice is partnering for the third year in a row with Witness
        for Peace to present a ten day delegation traveling to Magdalena, Colombia. This year's
        delegation is titled

HUMAN RIGHTS VIOLATIONS,
CORPORATE ABUSE,
MILITARY REPRESSION,
AND INTERNALLY DISPLACED PERSONS

In solidarity with our Colombian partners, Witness for Peace organizes delegations for people to travel to Colombia and see first-hand the impacts of U.S. policies. They meet with a wide spectrum of experts, representatives from NGOs, campesinos, business leaders and government officials.

In August of this year, 8-20 people will be guided through Magdalena, one of the northernmost departments of Colombia, to meet with stakeholders and policy-makers there in an effort to bear witness to, learn about, and attempt to change the interlocking priorities of US military and corporate interests. Particularly relevant in light of the new-forged agreements that will soon be placing seven US military bases throughout the country, this delegation will show how current US policy is merely the most recent demonstration of a long history that has brought death and hardship to the Colombian people on whom it is enacted.

Costs: $1360 in-country expenses ($150 deposit; this covers meals, accommodations, facilitation, translation, and transportation within Colombia), plus cost of airfare
